To say that I have enjoyed being the Canadian Glass Association (CGA) President for the last 2 years is an understatement. People who know me, know why. I love the glass industry and I love to help. There is no better position where I can exercise my passion for both.
I am often asked if I really have the time to take on such a project. I am also asked if I can really afford to spend so much time away from running my own business. The answer to both of these questions is "no." But I make the time because I see the value of having a strong and professional association represent our industry. And I appreciate that every project we take on helps to make this industry better, which means there is a benefit to all of us in the long-run.
As a national organization the CGA is working on providing benefits that will assist its members, provincial and regional associations, in providing resources that benefit them directly.
Our trade association fits into the pattern of any successful business operation. We benefit each other by collectively pooling the skills, advice and services of professionals in our field to share with others. And as we grow we add our voice to the strength of our industry to promote its welfare and its future growth. The trade association - the joining of forces within industry – gives power greater than that of the individual, or the sole business firm.
If you are not already a member of your provincial association please consider joining. Becoming a member of a glass association in any province automatically entitles individual companies to a membership in the national association. No contribution is too small and your voice will be heard!
